It's a beautiful day, so why am I playing with the computer?

Dipping my toe into the blog world for the first time feels ever so slightly like taking a casual stroll in a forest without hiking trails.  I have no idea where I'm going, but it sure seems interesting in here.  

My hundred-year-old house needs work, my non-existent garden calls, along with my all-too-existent compost pile, yet here I sit, trying to make a first post.  Perhaps this will help me get over my block about writing things.  Once I figure out the mechanics, I might even let some friends know about this.  Best to labor in obscurity for a few, though.  

Just for the moment, it feels like a guilty pleasure.  I begin to see the appeal.  But for today, the motto is "keep it short and sweet."
